In a modern setting more than almost any other kind, things need to change and need to keep changing – especially in dark, gritty semi-realistic games. One real change per gaming session seems to be a pretty good balance. Whether a player got a bill, had an ally die or is being chased by the neighborhood dyke – always have something going on.

I created a table for Tablesmith to roll on for each game to make life easier.

If you don’t have Tablesmith, you should. It’s cheap (free) and easy to use.

You can download the table here or read below for the whole thing. It would be pretty easy to remove the coding and just use a paper version.

Instructions

(Numbers in parenthesis on the table reference relative skill levels.)

Replace the word “Character” in the character table with the names of the characters in your game. On the Betrayal Table and the AllyDeath Table, replace the words “Player 1”, “Player 2”, etc with the names of the characters in your game and the words “an ally” on the various Ally Tables with their allies.
